God's Mighty Sword

“Now I…praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways are just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”  Daniel 4:37

Nebuchadnezzar was no fool.  Though he may have been a king, he knew that he, too, had to answer to a higher authority.  He allowed himself to be used by God.  His son, however, not quite as smart.  Belshazzar chose the “gods” of wealth…that is, until God stretched out His hand to write on a wall, in Belshazzar’s presence that he had been “weighed on the scales and had been found deficient, or wanting” (Daniel 5:27).
We are all weighed before God and the truth speaks for itself, when we are found wanting.  The problem is: we don’t want to hear it.  People, even declared Christians do not want to hear the truth, that they aren’t trying hard enough.  They don’t want to be told that they are following the logic of mankind, instead of following what God’s truth really is.  In Matthew 10:34-38, Jesus tells us that He came not to bring peace, but the sword.  That sword is truth, that is found in God’s word, the Bible.  He didn’t come to bring acceptance for lifestyles and choices that political leaders want to say is “okay” to follow.  Just as Jesus told the woman that once lived in adultery to “Go and SIN NO MORE” (John 8), He is telling us, that we must stop committing sin, in order to follow His teachings.
Jesus wasn’t concerned about offending people, either.  Continuing in Matthew 15, His disciples came to Him, saying that the Pharisees were offended by His teachings.  Jesus replied, “Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted” (Matthew 15:12-14).  Jesus did NOT stop bringing the truth of right and wrong just because someone got offended.  Why do Christians go silent today?  There is a quote that I found that sums this up, nicely: Failing to share truth when it is needed isn’t necessarily loving.”
The truth is out there.  The truth was planted, well over two thousand years ago and it has not changed.  People may say that it has.  People might even think that it has.  However, God’s words, and His Son’s teachings have not, nor WILL NOT change.  We need to wake up to the truth.  That truth is: We are not following God’s commands.  We are merely following what others choose to believe, like a herd of sheep, blindly following.  Why do you think there is so much tension and hatred in this world?  People are making up their own lists of right and wrong.  God already decreed that list and it is NOT for us to amend it.  It is for us to follow it, if we choose to live in the eternal light of God.
